15/03/2011 Caribbean Boat Trip – Day 5

Leaving the island at 6 am we headed into rough seas for the entire day, arriving late at night in Sapzorro. It was a stomach churning journey and the as the waves were beating us around the ocean. One task I had to do whilst in the waters and that was by far one of the hardest jobs for me was to cook, not only did I have to keep an eye on the cooking food but also as the boat swung back and forth so did the boiling water on the stove, it was scary and dangerous stuff. The cutlery slid to and from me on the small counter top and as I was stumbling all over the place I managed to cook some noodles for lunch thankfully without incident. It is close to impossible to do anything in the sailboat as it crawled across the sea at an average of 4.5 knots (8.2km/h) so for the most part whilst were moving I slept despite the boat was getting thrown about the waves. I don’t think I’ve ever slept so much in ages and it’s a nice break from the boozing in Panama City.
