Time cycling: 4 Hours 40 minutes

Total Distance Traveled: 1612km

Highway 101 had taken us away from the coast which was nice because the weather was much warmer during the evenings and mornings although it did bring out the mosquitoes.

This morning we met an American guy who was walking 500 Miles for charity; Craig was an enthusiastic nice guy who had never travelled before. Well, seriously good for him, its cool and all but he continuously talked about how God put this idea in his head to help out this charity. He kept on going on about how it was God’s idea for him to do this walk, ok fine, but what if something went wrong and he was in a freak accident whilst walking along the roadside, would he still say it was God’s idea? That it was god’s intention to put him in a wheelchair in this hypothetical situation? Wouldn’t it just be better to say that it was his own idea and he wanted to do something to help out this charitable organization? Anyway it seems I have gone off on a bit of a tangent.

Shortly after leaving the camp site Jeff and I stopped at a fallen down redwood that was hollow in the stump, apparently the roots of these huge trees only extend 10 feet underground and is the reason why they grow so close together as they hold each other up. We got some cool pictures here and moved on.

In a small town I managed to find another1 kilogram bag of broken cookies for $2.29, its great as its completely random and you can end up with whatever, like Christmas, this time I got a bag filled with mostly choc-chip cookies. Yay!

Further down the road as we were passing through a town a random backpacker (Travis) asked me if he could charge his iPhone if I had the cable, I did and helped him out as I used the internet in an icecream shop. He was so thankful he even made a few calls to see if any of his friends in San Fran could hook me up with a place to crash, unfortunately his friends could not, but it was nice of him to try.

I got my top speed to 41.5 M/hr (65 km/h)

Getting close to the next camp site we cooled off from the late afternoon sun in the river beside the highway, it was very refreshing, I got to do some flips into the water from a rock and we briefly got to meet some American students who were cool.

The campsite we arrived at had nobody at the entry gate so Jeff and I just cruised in without paying and set up our tents, I washed some clothes in the sink, cooked up dinner as Jeff shared some jokes (got to remember the biker, emu and tight dwarf joke) and crashed out when it got dark.
